Mercy High School names two alumnae to the Board of Trustees

Welcome, Lenora Henry ’88 and Donna Orem ’72!
Please join us in welcoming these distinguished alumnae!
Congratulations to Lenora Henry ’88 and Donna Orem ’72, our newest alumnae members of the Mercy High School Board of Trustees! We are grateful for your service and leadership!

Lenora Henry ’88 brings more than 25 years of experience in management, fundraising, and strategic planning to her new role as a Mercy High School trustee. As executive director of the American Red Cross of Central Maryland, Lenora is responsible for services in Baltimore City and Baltimore, Harford, and Carroll Counties. Previously, she made history as the first woman to serve as executive director of the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce. In addition to Mercy’s Board of Trustees, Lenora generously shares her time and talents with the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance Board of Directors and the Black Leadership Advisory Council through Associated Back Charities. Lenora has been an active Mercy alumna. She is a former member of our Alumnae Association Executive Board, and in May 2024, served as our Commencement speaker. We are grateful that Lenora, with her extensive network in the Greater Baltimore area, has joined us as a trustee!

Donna Orem ’72 returns to the Mercy High School Board of Trustees this year after serving as a trustee from 2004 until 2013. Having held various leadership roles at the National Association of Independent Schools from 1998 until 2024, including chief operating officer and president, Donna is an expert on leadership, governance, trends in independent education, and workforce development. A graduate of two Sisters of Mercy-sponsored schools, Mount St. Agnes Elementary School and Mercy High School, Donna has many Mercy connections. Her cousin Vicki Garvey ’64 is a member of Mercy’s first graduating class and is a former faculty member. In recognition of Donna’s accomplishments and loyalty to Mercy High School, she received our McAuley Outstanding Alumna Award in 2015. We look forward to the insights and expertise that Donna will offer as the Mercy Board continues to chart an exciting future for our school!
